1.1 - Can I monitor business processes or services with Osmius?Of course, this is one of the Osmius main features. For example, with Osmius you could monitor a service called “Internet Sales” composed by a balancer, two servers, two databases and the warehouse system and kept informed about its availability and performance. Moreover, with Osmius you can monitor your business activity with KPIs and get answers to questions like: Are we selling trought Internet? How many sells were made yesterday? How much money have we lost with the last server fall down? How many payments are pending?

1.3 - What is an instance?An instance is an element (application, device, data source...) that we want to monitor.
1.4 - What are the Osmius plugins?Plugins allow you to add new capabilities to Osmius. For example, new monitoring agents, new data retrieval templates...
1.5 - What is a Master Agent?A Master Agent is a software module that can be installed in a remote host and work as a satellite for the Osmius Central Server. Thus, a Master Agent allows us to monitor instances from a different host than the Osmius Central Server. It allows us to perform intrusive monitoring of that host as well. For example, monitoring log files in the filesystem.
1.6 - What is Osmius severity?When we talk about severity we mean the performance degradation of one service or instance.
1.7 - What is distributed monitoring? Can I do this with Osmius?Distributed monitoring involves monitoring from several points to avoid errors derived from the lack of redundancy and get monitoring data from different scenarios. 1.8 - Does Osmius provide some CLI or Web Service?Yes, Osmius provides several Web Services. You can use them to add new instances, users, retrieve active events... you can find their documentation and API here: http://demo.osmius.com/osmius/webservices/index.html
1.9 - Does Osmius have SNMP monitoring capabilities?Of course, with Osmius you can monitor SNMP devices in a simple way using our visual MIB browser. Osmius will ask the device for the given OID with the configured time interval. Moreover, Osmius can collect devices’s traps for asynchronous monitoring.
1.10 - Can I use Osmius in my smartphone?Osmius Mobile web console adapts itself to your smartphone, just browse to the address /osmius/mobile/index.html of your Osmius installation. For example, http://demo.osmius.com/osmius/mobile/index.html
1.11 - Can Osmius send notifications?Yes, you can receive email, sms, tweets... notifications in response to changes in: instances, services, SLAs and Global Note. You can integrate Osmius notifications with third-party software (Remedy, JIRA...) as well.
1.12 Is it possible to monitor multiple customer networks?Yes, Osmius is able to monitor different subnets using the "proxy" feature of the Osmius Master Agents, so you can monitor multiple customer networks. 1.13 Is it possible to monitor hardware devices? If so which devices?Yes, Osmius is able to monitor hardware devices. You can monitor everything that supports IPMI, WMI, SSH or SNMP. Actually Osmius have a few preconfgured agents for: HP JetDirect, NetApp, Generic CISCO, Amazing PDU, Power Hawk, Sequoia EM01B sensor and we are working on Dell OMSA agent, but if it is not enough I can promise you can make a new hardware monitoring easily wit Osmius ... or you can order us a new one. 1.14 Is it possible to monitor software applications like Antivirus and Backup software?And generate reports of it?Yes, Osmius is able to monitor "everything" connected in a network. In the same way you can monitor hardware devices you can monitor applications; and of course, you can generate reports, notifications, alerts of it.
1.15 Is it possible to generate reports per customer networks?You can create services that bring together the elements you want, so if you make a service for each customer you can create reports by filtering on the service that interests you

3.1.1 - How can I install Osmius in Windows?It is very simple, we provide an Osmius automatic installer for Windows. Just download and execute it, then answer some configuration questions and you will have Osmius Central Server installed and ready to monitor.
3.1.2 - How can I install Osmius in Linux?It is very simple, we provide an Osmius automatic installer for Linux. Just download and execute it, then answer some configuration questions and you will have Osmius Central Server installed and ready to monitor.
3.1.3 - How can I access to Osmius web console?It is normally located in the 8080 port of the Osmius Central Server. You may access with your browser using http://ip_osmius:8080/osmius. Sign in with username root and password osmius.
3.2.1 - What is the Osmius Central Server address?
3.2.2 - When installing a Master Agent I don’t understand the term “Master IP”. What does it mean?When you install a Master Agent in a host with more than one IP address you must choose one of them to communicate with the Osmius Central Server. That address is the “Master IP”.
3.2.3 - Which are the Osmius default ports?
3.3.1 - What are the default username and password for Osmius?To access Osmius web console after installing use these default credentials:

3.4.1 - How can I add new instances to Osmius?To add a new instance using the Osmius web console go to menu Manage -> Instances and click the “+” icon (Add) at the top of the screen. Now we will be asked for some information to connect to the instance and start monitoring it:
Finally, we must click the save button at the top of the screen to save our configuration and start monitoring this instance.
3.4.2 - How can I add new agents to Osmius?There are two ways:
3.4.3 - Where can I find the Osmius MySQL data files?You can find them in the installation directory (usually /opt/osmius) inside /mysql/data.
3.4.4 - Where can I find the current status of the agents deployed in my Osmius installation?Go to menu Infrastructure -> Agents of your Osmius web console. There you will find all agents and Master Agents in organizational hierarchy.
3.4.5 - What are the prerequisites for Osmius autodicovery feature? How can I run it in Windows and Linux?In order to use Osmius autodiscovery you must have nmap and net-snmp installed. In Linux this dependes on your distribution:
Actually, there is no autodiscovery available in Windows.
3.4.6 - What is the “Community Name” asked while setting up an Osmius instance?Community Name is an optional parameter and you only need to introduce it for SNMP monitoring. It is the SNMP community name where the monitored device is configured. According to Wikipedia, it is the name or key used for authentication. Generally, there is a reading community (public) and a writing community (private).
3.4.7 - How can I activate more events in Osmius instances?You must uncheck the “Only Active” checkbox in the Event section of the instances management.
3.4.8 - How can I start and stop Osmius in Windows and Linux?In Windows, there is a shortcut for Osmius in the Start menu, there you can stop and start Osmius. In Linux you can stop it with “/etc/init.d/osmius stop” and start it with “/etc/init.d/osmius start” (you must be superuser).
3.4.9 - I have just installed a Master Agent but I can only see the Linux agent. How can I add more?In the Infrastructure screen right-click in the Master Agent, then select “Deploy Agents” to choose the ones you want to deploy and click the apply button.
