This platter was made after my trip to Ireland this winter where I went to learn from Glenn Lucas for a couple days in County Carlow. The form is one that I learned from him which he calls the "traditional Irish platter."
The platter has a wide base so it is very stable and will not rock from side to side when in use. The O-G curved underneath the rim gives the platter a comfortable feel in the hand. It is the smaller version of the larger platter also listed in my shop and would accompany the larger one well in any kitchen.
The timber for this platter came from a tree that fell in a storm a few years ago here on Cape Cod.
Like all bowls in my shop, this has been made from salvaged wood from fallen trees. No tree is ever taken for the purpose of this craft.
