Vintage Mamiya 1000 DTL 35mm SLR Camera with a Yashica 50mm f1.7 Prime Lens - M42 Working Film store Camera with Good light Sensor -Tested & Ready
Vintage Mamiya 1000 DTL 35mm SLR Camera with a Yashica 50mm f1.7 Prime Lens is a fully manual basic camera. Nothing automatic in the lenses but the sensor does work for aperture readings. A great camera to learn the basics and get full control of your pictures and good for street shooting.
This is a hard to find model and uses the M42 mount lenses which are easy to find and give you a lot of options to build out a full kit.
Working Film Camera That's Ready to Shoot! Tested ! FREE shipping! All Lenses look in good shape with no scratches or dust issues. Just minor particles that shouldn't affect pictures. There is some internal dust in the viewfinder but won't show up in pictures since it's in the light prism area.
CONDITION:
As you can see from the pictures, the camera has no real wear but it is used. Also, I found no scratches or dust with the lens. TO verify condition, I ran film through the camera with two shots on flash and rewound film back. All functions appear to work just fine. The shutter speeds appear to be close at high speeds (by estimate) but 1 second speed is off about a second. Could use a clean and lube inside but still functional. Light meter works but not tested against a modern handheld light meter.
The film advance lever works just fine and I've replaced the crumbling light seals plus the mirror sealing foam with felt and the back cover as well (refer to picture). I found no light leakage.
INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE: Mamiya 1000 DTL 35mm SLR Camera with a Yashica 50mm f1.7 Prime Lens and Petri lens cover. The battery is left inside after testing and they are readily available online or at local stores.
The Mamiya 1000 DTL has both spot and average metering at the flick of a button and Metering is stop-down, meaning you must press the wind lever in towards the camera to stop down the lens as you meter and set exposure. The meter has an excellent in-finder indicator, better than almost all modern cameras, because it uses a real-time analog needle that indicates in full stops, making Zone System calculations easy.
These cameras use the very common M42 universal screw mount, also called the Pentax screw mount. The models store use Mamiya SX lenses in addition to regular 42mm screw mount lens. The SX lens is an elaboration of the 42mm screw mount adding an aperture coupling pin for open-aperture metering.
Exposure can be set manually as desired, or the photographer can let the built-in TTL light meter help them get the correct exposure. The power for this comes from 1.5 V cell. (IMPORTANT, Mamiya has a feature to keep the battery from draining. Please refer to the manual at https://www.cameramanuals.org/mamiya_pdf/mamiya_1000dtl.pdf).
