I believe there were used for « Trou Normand »
Trou Normand is a festive gastronomic tradition where you would serve between 2 meal courses a sherbet with a store liquor to ease digestion. So after main course and before attacking a cheese plate, an apple sherbet with calvados or a pear sherbet with Poire William liquor would be served.
There can also be used as individual nut dish Or use one as a master salt cellar.
This fine crystal set would make a superb and unusual wedding gift
