This is an example of a custom Juniper picture frame I made for an artist here in Oregon from wood harvested on this ranch. Juniper is a very slow growing wood in arid regions which has beautiful color ranging from pale cream thru tan and brown to orange with a lot of character in the grain and finishes silky smooth and radiant. I kept this frame simple at 3" wide and utilized contrasting wood splines at the corners for strength. I wanted to showcase both the artwork and the beautiful wood. This frame was finished with a poly urethane finish.
Cost for different size store frames will vary greatly depending on size and shipping destination. Please contact me for a custom quote on a frame. I prefer charging a fair price for the frame and only adding actual shipping costs to that. Once I know the size and destination, we both get a fair deal and I can create a Custom Order.
Frames are available in any size desired, just let me know the inside measurement of the opening needed, the width of frame desired and profile on the wood. Since this wood has so much character, I used a simple 1/4" round over on the outer edge and 1/8" on the inner edge. Frames can be furnished with glass and backer board, or you can add your own, accommodating your art and matting as well. I used a 1/4 x 1/2" rabit on the back of this frame, but can create whatever size and depth you need to hold the contents you plan to mount.
I would say the wood in this frame is typical Juniper. Often, Juniper has a lot more wavy grain and color. Since I mill my own logs, I have quite a variety of lumber available and can furnish photos of wood to discuss what fits your desires in the creation of a frame or other wood project.
Since these are built to order, shipping time will vary from a few days to two weeks to allow for manufacture, but should not require more than a week once decisions on size and material is made. I'm happy to discuss any variations you may be interested in having done.
