This is a lovely vintage brooch that was made by Shetland Silvercraft* in 1965. It is a traditional design based on a Celtic hoard of treasure that was discovered on St. Ninian's Isle, Sheltland in 1958. The brooch is a high quality piece of Celtic art, made in a remote location by a family firm.
Measures: 35mm (1 3/8") in diameter.
On the reverse of the centre panel store the brooch is hallmarked with the maker's mark for Shetland Silvercraft, Edinburgh 1965.
In very good condition; the brooch has a straight sharp pin and a secure rollover clasp. It has minor signs of wear in the form of surface scratches to the silver on the front central round panel.
It will come in a black cardboard gift box and be sent by a tracked postal service.
*The company continues making high quality jewellery to this day on Shetland and still produce this brooch. They are now known as Shetland Jewellery.
