Cloisonné is a glaze technique for applying coloured surfaces of a motif to metal or ceramics (pottery, stoneware and porcelain). The name comes from the French word cloisonne which means "partition" or "partition". While metal uses metal wires or strips for the partitions, ceramics have the store boundaries between the different color areas as clay ribs.
