You are viewing an authentic illustration titled “Dock on the Bay,” part two. Prior to the holiday season, and per request from readers and those whom appreciate the authenticity of my art, I reintroduced a favored series from the past titled, “Adirondack by the Bay.” It's not a secret that private patients, clients and residents in and out of communities all throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, know about my longtime career dedicated to mental health, as a dementia specialist, psychotherapist, a self taught artist and a writer. My entire career for fourteen years and present day has “intentionally been without traditional social media” and unwanted apps. If you didn't have the opportunity to read my brief biography on the site, you will learn my life without social media,” all these years has afforded me the opportunity to invest in a very successful career in mental health completely dedicated to dementia care, psychotherapy infused with my passion for the arts and as a writer. Additionally, my “life without social media,” has provided me with the most privacy, time to manage my life and career without interruption or interference. I'm literally “ living in my career and enjoying every moment” not only caring for self and my beautiful family, but continued specialized one on one uninterrupted therapy and non invasive assessments for all of my existing private patients, clients and residents. Many of these very same people have had direct therapy with me “in person” on the interior of communities, while others simply “Google me,” for the one on one self cognitive assessment they do independently on their own without interruption. Reiterating occasionally my site “BehindtheSCbyJessica,” has been in Harvard Review including the details about my career history without social media all these years and having been writing “Retirement Heaven,” for years. Everyone who knows my work and has thoroughly researched and studied my career in mental health goes back in time including all professional articles published in print between 2014-2018 titled, “The Garden Level Chat,” for a local assisted living community in Bethesda, Md. All past articles, also reviewed by my affiliates including NCCAP, the National Center for Certified Activities Professionals confirmed the work as the work of an activity director, creative arts director, recreational therapist, dementia specialist and psychotherapist. So, as you see here, I've completely put my “heart into my career,” and it hasn't gone unnoticed by my private patients, clients and residents all throughout the greater good of Washington. When visiting my site, I also always reassure and highly recommend you take the time to set yourself up in your own quiet private time and space (without feeling the burden of unwanted distraction and interruption) and simply devote all the time needed for you to be patient with yourself and perhaps with the guidance of family or caretaker, and work on self care. I highly suggest you create your own art, write what's on your mind, exploring the creativity and discovering the “artist in you,” you may have thought you weren't or didn't have talent, or perhaps rediscover and bring back the “true colors,” and inner artist in you. All of this will help you with feel safe, have a place to independently enjoy my therapy, encouraging you to store think independently without feeling like someone else is trying to “diagnose you.” Reminding you this is from fourteen years of real professional experience and certification I practice what I'm known best for through “non invasive cognitive assessments.” Phase one was the initial graphite sketch. On quality mixed media and graphite, I sketched the dominant feature first and foremost, the centralized wooden dock marked with the obvious for safety precautions for all visitors and pedestrians, “No Diving Shallow Water.” The exact location is of a very loved tourist attraction and bayside site for Ocean City locals, Bahia Marina, in Ocean City, Maryland. The artist (myself) has literally been visiting this scenic site for many years before and after my own two children were born. My entire family appreciates the simple pleasures in life, many of us outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, so this marina will always have a “special place in our hearts.” It's a destination we always look forward to visiting annually, and even make the excuse to go for “short getaways off season,” just to simply “be there.” If you didn't have the opportunity to read “part one,” if this current series, you will see it in my collection. You will see the painting of a “blue sporting boat,” securely positioned along the bay in front of the very same wooden dock. In previous painting, as with others from past work, my preferred pattern and technique with intent to recreate the scene closest to how it's seen in “real time,” is to “dramatize the water,” ultimately “bringing life.” My authentic paintings helps visually guide my private patients, clients and residents, as well as buyers and readers, a comfortable trustworthy understanding of how I see things in a comprehensive way, ultimately educating others through my own personalized perspective and interpretation. After sketching the wooden dock in phase one, I preceded to sketch the other elements in and around the dock, such as the tight sturdy ropes you see utilized to help securely tie the boats, as well as the “aged wooden effect,” on the dock itself. I intentionally sketched cracks and crevasses, even the natural flaws on every single feature to recreate the image closest to how it's seen in “real time.” Phase two was the implementation of colored pencil. With brown, black, white, gray, golden tones, red, modest amounts of greens, yellow, silver and black, I blended and shaded over phase one. This phase always helps visually guide my attention and focus on the initial grapghite sketch, ultimately enhancing the entire scene. It also helps personally visually guide and helps separate the features within, so the artist (myself) can focus on one thing at a time. Phase three was the application of acrylic paint. With the same colors used as in phase two and varied textured brushes, including sharp aged brushes, I painted over the illustration. For better enhancements and representation of my narrative to this (part 2) in this series, I also applied colored pencil and graphite intentionally used over the paint once dried to recreate the rugged rough textured natural appearance of Bahia Marina. My favorite part of this entire painting, as with all previous from this very same location was of course “dramatizing the water,” incorporating the fine details representing the “aged wooden effect,” of the site itself. When viewing this painting, as with previous ones, you may even feel a sense of comfort, familiarity of destination, smell the salty bayside air, feel the bayside breeze, hear the surrounding local bird species hovering always in pursuit of a good meal directly from the water, and the nautical activity surrounding. Upon completion I sprayed it with clear fixativ sealant to prevent any damage or “bleeding of the colors.” This would make for an ideal housewarming gift or simply be a nice addition to an existing collection. Please enjoy! Jessica Ahmadi
