WWI Volunteer Medal "Orphelinat des store Armees" ~ Rene Lalique, 1917

store Rene Lalique designed this antique art nouveau French medal, given as a token of appreciation to contributors to the French charity helping war orphans during WWI. About 1-1/8" square, modeled in the shape of a Maltese cross, in brass. The ribbon and condition suggest that it was worn quite a lot. Undisturbed patina with a few blemishes on the reverse side. From my 84 year old father's collection; the money goes to him and he needs it. Free domestic shipping.
