This bedside lamp is wonderful quality made of strong brass with a lovely Cupid figure in ceramic - Cupid looks to be bending his bow on his knee, the detail and grace of the figure speaks volumes of the quality of the item. The lamp dates circa 1930's to 1940's - so early electric lighting, to looks to have been re-wired at a later time as the wiring is up to date store, but sporting a Bakelite plug. The structure of the lamp is very strong and quite heavy, the lamp shade is supported on the brass rod which pivots on a ball joint (see photograph) this is rarely seen on modern lamps and allows the lamp shade to be moved to either enable reading or to shade the light from the eyes.
The lamp shade itself looks to be from the same era as the lamp itself - it is stained on one side, but otherwise in good condition. The lamp and base are in excellent condition without any damage, although there is some light crazing on the ceramic, there are however no chips or cracks.
The lamp is wired and functional for European standards - if the lamp is bought outside of Europe, then it may be re-wired in accordance with standards of that country, we will cut the plug off in case of sale outside of Europe, but leave the rest of the wiring in place (this is a safety measure).
