This antique Ccirca 1850 Elsmore & Foster Portland Shaped Creamer is beautiful. This such a beautiful piece and in excellent condition. It is an antique circa 1850 Ellsmore & Foster Portland shaped covered creamer made from white ironstone, made in Tunstall, Stokes-on-Trent, England. Copper Luster, scalloped edge, round base, 8 panel bulbous shape, ribbed from bottom of the base to the top of the finial. Raised relief work leaves all around and on the handles.
Morning Glory motif on center of each side. I also have a matching sugar bowl listed.
Elsmore and Foster began in 1853 manufacturing at the Clayhills Pottery, Tunstall, England. Around 1871, Foster left the business and Thomas Elsmore continued as Elsmore & Son. This was manufactured between 1853 - 1871.
Makers Marks: applied marks were made using a coin like pad of clay which was impressed with the design and attached to the bottom of a piece with very liquid clay called 'slip.'
Creamer: 6" high (from base to tip of the spout), 5.5" wide (from end of handle to spout), 2.5" diameter at base, 2.75" diameter at open rim. Approximately 1 pound.
Condition is excellent. No apparent chips, cracks, breaks, scuffs, or scratches.
