Item 724 Sweet Gum Wood Walking Stick, Hiking Stick, Staff, Cane, Trekking Pole made at Kentucky Naturally.

62 inches tall. About 4.25 inches around at the neck. This staff can be shortened at no extra cost from the bottom of the stick, up to a few inches if different length is needed. Just store note that in comments at time of purchase.

Grown in Kentucky by Mother Nature then whittled, carved and finished by me, Johnny. I always keep my eye open for sticks I can work into something useful and good looking that can be there for you for years to come.

I removed the outer layer of bark on this sweet gum piece to show the beauty of the woodgrain underneath and added a light brown stain that does enhance the wood grain and design of the wood. You will see the different shades of brown on this stick with a smooth and interesting woodgrain design that along with the few knicks, knots and slight curves all make this a hiking stick with character. It feels comfortable placing your hand on the neck of the stick on the smooth bark under where I have placed a leather strap that includes a handmade deer antler point from a naturally shed deer antler. This piece also has the date of completion wood burned at the neck, 2-22-2022.

This staff is light weight for its height and size so should be easy to handle but it is a strong hiking stick. Very good looking and made to use. I did also add a light finish for protection and a little shine. I will include a rubber tip if requested. Your stick will ship priority free.
