Recreation of Robert Zund's art called "Way to Emmaus". He was a Swiss artist, lived 1827-1909. Best remembered for painting classic Biblical store scenes in a old fashioned style. This has textured look to the surface. This is a rich and well made looking piece of art!
The frame is lighter wood on the outside, a gold insert by the edge of the art and a textured type of material in the middle. I would suggest painting the textured surface gold for a richer look. The back is stamped "1850 E Northwestern Products." This does not have glass.
The journey to Emmaus. The two disciples were walking along the road, heading to Emmaus, deep in solemn and serious discussion, when Jesus met them. They could not recognize Jesus, and saw him as a stranger.
The Road to Emmaus appearance is one of the early resurrection appearances of Jesus after his crucifixion and the discovery of the empty tomb
Approximate size is 27 1/2" Width, 21" Length.
Approximate size of art is 24 1/8" Width, 18" Length.
Condition is good condition. The art looks great, one small scuff, in the bottom left bushes. If you color in with a green or black marker I don't think you would see it. The wire across the back has pulled out, we will replace with another wire across the back with a better secured hook.
Shown with a Black Velvet Jesus, that is available in another listing.
Metal cross is a photo prop only and not for sale.
