French Redwork Embroidery Pajama Case / store Envelope : Victorian Children Playing Badminton & One Rolling Hoop , MOP Buttons
A charming antique French pajama case with redwork embroidery.
It measures 11" x 15" folded, is made with a thick and sturdy twill-style cotton. The embroidered scene portrays children at play. Two are playing badminton, and their dress is even older than Victorian, I'd say 18 century. A little boy carries a rolling hoop.
The flap closes with two MOP buttons which I replaced as the original buttons were missing. There was a large monogram on the flap, but that, as is visible, has been removed, photo 6.
CONDITION OF CASE: Light yellow spot in the front, photo 7.
store A few rusty/yellow speck on the back, the last two pics. Hand laundered and pressed.
