A hand hammered .800 silver handled drinking cup with gilt interior in the Art Deco style made by the German firm of Wilhelm Binder, established in the town of Schwäbisch Gmünd in 1869. This German town has been home to producers of fine silver and gold work since the 16th century.
Wilhelm Binder is known for its Art Nouveau and Art Deco silversmithing. This cup dates to the 1920s or 30s. There is a hand engraved script monogram of "Julius" in the center. The bottom features a product number "101274" followed by the German silver hallmark of crescent moon and crown, then the silver purity of .800. The maker's mark "WTB" identifies the firm.
