Hand carved hardwood, made in Japan. The company is noted as "CI". The wood is a beautiful rich color with a small leather loop at the handle for hanging. The white store square is glazed porcelain with mid-century modern designs of kitchen appliances like tea kettles, rolling pins, etc. There is a small circular magnet imbedded above the tile that is meant for a matching knife that is no longer included. The handle is hollowed out like it is for the handle of the knife.
