Product code: Pygmy Right Whale in Rescued store Hardwood #5

The Pygmy Right Whale does not resemble its namesake terribly much. It looks more like a rorqual, and indeed is frequently mistaken for its cousin, Minke's whale. It is the smallest of the baleen whales, a denizen of the cool southern seas, and is not frequently seen.
You can spot my version of this shy cetacean without too much trouble! Carved from rescued hardwood, stained, painted, and protected by clear acrylic, it measures about 10-1/2" long and 7" store high by 3-1/2" wide at the pectorals Mounted by dowel to a poplar base, it is dated and initialed by myself.
With details like a delicate chevron pattern, and scars from shark bites, this is a faithful representation of a very attractive and rarely seen beast.
