Original 1855 store Hand-Coloured Engraving Plate XXIII. Hand written by unknown person above each bird is (from L to R) "Toco Toucan, Tocard Toucan and Blue-Billed Toucan. It appears to be quite old.
This hand-colored copper-plate engraving is from Oliver Goldsmith's “A History of the Earth and Animated Nature” (1728-1774). The first edition (in eight volumes) appeared in London in 1774.
This image was re-published by Archibald Fullarton and Company a Glasgow based publisher in 1855
The engraving is in very good condition with slight foxing and age-related toning. Ready to Hang
