Product code: Antique Faux Tortoise Shell Brooch Pin Victorian Late 1800s Jewelry Faith store Hope and Love

The three symbols of faith, hope and charity/love - a cross, anchor and heart - were a popular motif in later Victorian jewelry. The heart and cross might speak for themselves, but the anchor store as a metaphor for "hope" might need some explaining. During the Napoleonic Wars, it became a relevant popular symbol at a time when seafaring meant that a loved one might never be seen again. Essentially, it meant "come back safely to me", not necessarily by ship, but in general.

This is a rare, hard to find tortoise victorian brooch, from the 1800s, with the faith hope and love symbols. A true antique

It measures just short of 2" across and is in excellent condition, the pin mechanism- a C clasp, is attached nice and tight and works as intended

shipping price includes Insurance on the Full Value

Because we care about the next generation we use recycled materials as much as possible for shipping
