I will hand paint a beautiful custom painting of your pet based on your photos. This sample dog painting was 16x20 inches, and the sample cat painting was 14x18 inches.

Your custom pet portrait will be painted in your choice of oil or acrylic paint on a gallery style wrapped canvas. I paint around the edges so your piece can be hung without framing.

Acrylic or oil paint - which should you choose? The final product will look very similar whether you choose oil or acrylic paint. The main difference between the two types of paint is the drying time, acrylic paint is water based and dries within minutes. Oil paint is oil based and takes several days to dry. So if time is of the essence an acrylic painting can be dry enough to pack up for shipping within an hour of completion, while an oil painting will likely take 4-6 days to dry enough to pack up. In appearance an oil painting can appear to have more depth as the dried paint is less reflective so darks may look deeper. Because it dries slowly its very good for smooth blending of colours. Acrylic paint is a bit more reflective when dry but because it dries quickly it is very good for precise detail. Because it dries quickly it is also great for layering of colours. I enjoy using either medium so the choice is yours!

Acrylic paintings take approximately 3 to 4 days to paint and can be packed and shipped immediately. Oil paintings take 3 to 4 days to paint and then approximately 4 to 6 days for oil paint to dry and then it can be packed and shipped.

I will securely bubble wrap and pack the painting to ensure it arrives safely. It will be sent through Canada Post Expresspost which has package tracking and a delivery guarantee. If you prefer I can upgrade the shipping to Priority post or Purolator courier at an additional cost, please contact me if you prefer these options and I can check on the pricing for your destination.
