Late 19th/Early 20thC French Swatch Cards
Spring Printed Cotton Samples with Rabbits
Please note: These swatch cards are being sold individually.
Going through my collection of these wonderful French swatch cards and found I had a few duplicates.
I've got many with children or Victorian ladies, but just a few with animals. The assumption I am making with these is that they were samples of Spring ("Au Printemps") fabrics with which to store make your Easter dress.
They are whimsical and a fun way to present samples to customers.
Card A: "Au Printemps, Paris, Comptoir De Mercerie" translated. "In Spring, Paris, Haberdashery Counter" Old dressed rabbit leaning on an egg smoking a cigarette! How sophisticated and French! Measures 7 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Condition is very good with minor signs of wear attendant with age and use. There is a bit of staining in the upper right hand corner. I make no apologies as it does detract from the integrity of the sample card.
Card B: "La Micheline, Echantillons Pour Lingerie" "Samples" Sweet white bunny playing his horn. Measures 7 by 3 1/8 inches. Condition is very good with minor signs of wear attendant with age and use.
If you collect fabric samples and swatch cards, these will add a bit of magic and fun to your collection!
