The head is definitely a cool eye-catcher.
It can stand on his own.
But:
I know exactly.
These heads were made to hold headphones. They were either made of glass or ceramic.
Here we have one made of black glass.

We had one at home. It was on the shelf above the organ.
In this times headphones were really bulky.
They found there space on the heads- and it looked good.
Today you can of course handle it freely.
