I found this wonderful Rustic bread board in the attic of a tumble down cottage. Along with other treasures, it had store been in storage since about 1940 when it was packed away during WW2 & forgotten about. Newspapers in the boxes were of this date.

Made from elm wood, valued for its anti-bacterial properties, it has beautifully carved ears of wheat with a recessed groove to hold the knife.

The knife has a similarly carved handle & a super sharp serrated Sheffield stainless steel blade made by Fry & Wigpull Ltd.

About 32.5cm x 20.5cm x 2cm deep with a 31.5cm knife. (21cm blade length). Set weight 800g.

The board is in fantastic condition with just a few expected score & cut marks as shown. The knife looks virtually unused.
