Although the teacup and saucer itself are dishwasher safe, in order to protect the custom transfer design applied to the teacup one should wash it by hand. The Custom Transfer Technique is food safe, does not contain lead or other harmful chemicals, and care instructions will be included with the cup.

NOTE: when the listing reads "gold", none of this "gold" is 18kt or 24kt gold. The spoons are gold plated and the porcelain items are gold brushed using whatever technique the manufacturer uses to apply gold color onto the porcelain. You are buying an item that has gold color, not actual gold minerals (as in melted gold, jewelry, etc)
