Eclipses are a darkening of the light.

And they remind us that in any cycle there are phases of growth, maturity, decline and death. We touch this cycle every year at the solstices. Summer solstice begins the cycle of declining light and in turn, the plants whither and go dormant or die, and then the cycle repeats itself with renewal and growth after the winter solstice when the light returns.

The thing is...these natural phases don't last forever. Life has a rhythm and it's better to acknowledge and accept this fact so you can prepare for the next turn of the wheel. I am amused at the resistance to decline that is store embedded in our culture. I prefer to look at it as an opportunity to support ourselves and others as we all make the inevitable transition towards decline after the blossoming has occurred.

And there is great beauty in decline...decline is a needed note in the harmony of the life cycle.

The energy for preservation is embodied in decline. We can use the time of decline to prepare and shift our perspective towards sharing what we have accumulated such as knowledge and wisdom to the new life coming in the next part of the great cycle.

Write it down...make a video. When my own grandmother was in decline, I interviewed her via a recorder and then transcribed it. I was able to capture her voice & life story to refer back to after she passed. Such a gift...and one that I never tire of opening.
