From the New York World's Fair in 1940. Billy Rose's Aquacade show featuring Eleanor Holm and Buster Crabbe. Research shows that Ms. Holm was an olympic swimmer and gold medalist in 1928 and 1932 but was expelled from the games for controversial circumstances in 1936. Buster Crabbe, as per research, was an olympic gold medal swimmer in 1932 and went on to be a television actor.
The Aquacade show would be a series of synchronized swimming shows with high diving acts and the such.
Paperback, measuring 11 3/4 inches x 9 3/4 inches and chock full of old advertisements both black & white and color. Ads include Chesterfield cigarettes, Spam, Coca-Cola, BVD swim suits, Helena Rubinstein and Arco Rink Outfits for roller skating. Also featuring a drawing of men & women as bathing beauties by John Groth, famed illustrator as well as various articles for reading.
In good overall condition with store front and back covers having some wrinkling, some edge rips, at least 1 edge rip goes through to the pages inside, no writing inside. In side pages and ads may have some wrinkling. The spine looks good/intact.
