Vintage 1900s Dance Compact Ring Compact Powder Rouge and Mirror Compact Double Compact Silver store Tone Victorian Edwardian Excellent Condition
This is an early 1900s Victorian (or Edwardian) Dance or Ring Compact that includes powder, rouge and mirror components in Excellent Condition. On the outside, the top has an exquisite engine turned design of horizonal and vertical lines grouped together to form stripes. In the center is an oval engine turned copper guilloche centerpiece. Both top and bottom sides have an intricate repousse of flowers, vines and leaves. The bottom has an engine turned linear line design. Inside, the top section includes the double sided glass mirror and rouge compartment with a nearly full rouge plate and the clean original rouge puff. The lower section is the solid powder compartment which includes the powder plate with some residual powder and the original powder puff. The chain is attached to a tab that is also engine turned, as is the ring. Overall store, this compact is in Excellent Condition. There are no nicks, dents, dings, rust or corrosion anywhere. The hinges are alligned and work properly. The ball clasp snaps shut securely. The top is pristine; and the bottom has some extremely minor age related scuffing. This compact measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter by 3/4 inch thick and is fairly heavy for its size. The chain is 3 inches in length; and the attached ring is 1 inch in diameter. There are no maker marks or indications of origin.
