Cave Fish Studios features the work of Scott Schoenick, a life-long woodworker and artist who creates one-of-a-kind works of art that are lovingly made to LOOK handmade, embracing the traditional Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, which celebrates the beauty inherent in natural objects, with all their imperfections and the changes they exhibit over time—faded colors, eroded shapes, and dents and dings that may occur through the years. Think "flea market" as opposed to "shopping mall" and you're on the right track.

This fish is a piece of PNW driftwood that had a fish hiding in it, so I carved him out. He sits atop a block of Padauk (pa-DOOK) exotic wood via a brass post. His eyes are red glass beads seated in circles of Birch. He is simple and elegant and sure to be noticed!

He can be cleaned with a damp rag, and would benefit from a periodic wipe down with any oil-based wood preservative, such as linseed oil. There are also many commercial products marketed for preserving cutting boards which will work very well.
