This piece is a wonderful example of Satsuma pottery, one of Japan's well - known porcelain manufacturers. Satsuma is known for its fine idyllic painting that are gilded with gold paint.
This plate has a pair of elegant peacocks strutting about in the rose and berry bushes. The colors included are gold , cinnamon, blue , green , and pink on an off white background.
The reverse side has the Satsumas identification mark.
