Store Huge antique wedding glass, ca 1850 French country wedding tradition, engraved huge wine glass, bell shaped baluster stem

A huge bell-shaped glass with a baluster stem, engraved with stylised leaves (ears of wheat?), ca. 1830-50. The hand blown, thick-walled glass is hand engraved. These type of glasses are referred to as Verre de Mariage (wedding glass) or Verre d'Amitié (friendship glass) in the tradition of the region of Normandy. The glass would be passed around for all the guests to take a sip. Sometimes the glass would be engraved with the occasion, or the initials of the happy couple.
Excellent condition, no damage. Glass shows some enclosed bubbles, wear under the foot as should be expected, rough pontil. The flat foot is a little irregular.
Height 28 cm - 11", diameter rim 13.5 cm. Capacity: just over one litre.
