Antique Lincoln Statue, Distressed Finish in Golds, Bronze, and Copper Paint, 7 1/2" Tall and 6 1/2" Across, Chalk Ware and Plaster

Boy have I done some research on this one. It was tucked into storage and forgotten for decades until recently, then the memories of this piece came back. We moved into a log house in 1980 after living in a large Victorian for ten years. I decided to go big time Abe Lincoln in my decorating to go with the wood floors and log walls. I mean literally Abe Lincoln, I started collecting all things Lincoln and this statue was one of those treasures I managed to come across in a little shop just outside of Springfield, Illinois. I was told it was later chalk ware because it had a plaster bottom. The paint on it is amazing, it's got sparkles of gold, store bronze, copper, brass, just about everything. I think that perhaps before I got it, in about 1982, it was in bad shape and someone painted it like this. I left it because I feel it looks incredible. If you want an old piece of Lincoln memorabilia, this one is for you. There are a ton of Lincoln in Chair statues and bookends out there, and this may have been a bookend, but the bottom of this one is different than all the others I found online. The lines on the front and the tilt of his head are different, and that makes me think this one is an earlier one, like perhaps from the 1920s or 30s, and in later editions it became more stylized. I prefer this one and I hope you do too.
