This is such a lovely print of one of my original designs and one of personal favorites. The ORIGINAL is a TRADITIONAL BATIK. Batik is a process of dying fabric and painting with wax. The design is created in stages as different dyes are used, waxing after each dying, to SAVE that color. The wax is ironed off and then the silk is run through several solvent baths.

Once complete, the design is professionally photographed and put on the computer from where I am able to print the design directly onto fine, silk Habotai that is 8.5" x 11". The silk print is paper-backed which keeps it nicely flat. This is a gorgeous SILK PRINT which I will create for you. Print comes with a 1/4" white border all around and fits perfectly within an 8.5" X 11" mat and/or frame.

This is not only a spectacular design but the actual printing on the silk is gorgeous: rich warm tones, golds to reds, very lovely. It is perfect for that lover of the magnificent Monterey Cypress Tree. (Hesperocyparis macrocarpa is a species of “new world cedar” found native in a tiny range along California's central coast and no where else on earth.) Trees in general hold a special place in my heart. This particular design is loved by all. Silk is perfect for celebrating that 12th anniversary or for any special occasion. This is truly a lovely gift for HIM or HER.

Included wth your purchase is a backing "plate" that can be customized for your recipient as you like. I have attached a couple of ideas. I can also leave room for you to write a hand-written message as well. If no customization is wanted, then the standard informative backing plate will be included. The "plate" is not adhered to the foam core backing, so does not necessarily have to remain on the back.

Framing recommendations: An 11" X 14" or 12" X 16" frame with mat that has an 8.5" X 11" opening works nicely. Just be sure the opening is 8.5 X 11 as many will be 8" X 10".

Fully 20% of the profits of this lovely print will go to Earth Justice, a group dedicated to fighting for the earth! Other themes relate to other non-profits; my bird designs benefit my local Santa Cruz Native Animal Rescue, a rescue group that also rehabilitates injured and sick birds and all creatures needing help; my dog designs benefit my local SPCA; my oceanscapes benefit Ocean Conservancy.
