This is such a wonderful antique French bolster pillow cover! This long, tubular pillowcase is made of a beautiful vintage ticking fabric and dates to the 1930's. It's a beautiful, durable and heavyweight antique cotton fabric - and SO classically French! The name "denim" derives from the French "de Nîmes." Nîmes is an area of France once also known for producing these wonderful heavy ticking fabrics! The ground tone of this textile is a perfectly aged white, and the stripes are a beautiful muted deep navy blue! There is a slit in the side seam to allow for inserting a pillow or filling with feathers - you can see that long long ago this pillow case was stuffed with down feathers, as there is still down fluff residue on the inside of the pillow case - such a wonderful, rustic piece!! This is ideal for a rustic, farmhouse interior or would be fantastic also for cutting and repurposing into so many other projects!
MEASUREMENTS: This bolster pillowcase measures approximately 15 inches wide when laid flat by 46 inches long! Of course, if you were repurposing this for fabric, opened out it would be twice the width of fabric!
CONDITION: This bolster pillow cover has been left in as found, unwashed condition. There are MANY little feathers and remnants/lint from the original down still remaining inside this textile. This textile is in very sturdy, lovely condition!
