Vintage Chinese Porcelain Figurine Kwan YinEarly 20th Century 10 Inch FREE SHIPPING
Here for your delight from long ago and far away - a Chinese porcelain figurine of the goddess Kwan Yin, made in China in the Republican era between 1910 and 1940.
Her robe is beautifully textured and patterned. Her face is rendered in fine detail. I love the way the churning clouds are drawn.
You will notice that there are holes where you would expect to see hands. Figurines of this sort were made with separate hands that fitted into the holes. The hands were meant to be taken away from the figurines as part of a prayer ceremony. Of course these little hands got lost, so these days most of these figurines are missing their hands.
Surprise, this goddess still has one hand! (pictures 8 and 9).
Approximately 10 inches high.
In excellent vintage condition with store no chips, cracks, crazing or other disappointments.
Picture 10 shows another vintage Chinese porcelain figurine available in my shop... perhaps the goddess' consort?
FREE and FAST SHIPPING! Of course I will pack it so it arrives intact :)
