English Desert Set, store Kensington Superior, Shore and Coggins, Bell China, Desert Plates, Fruit Plates, English Plates, Imari, Square Plates,

This listing is for a set of English Plates. They were made by Shore and Coggins in the 1930's, and were probably hand painted. They are square , and the pattern is " Kensington Superior" and the back says " English Bell China" . The set consists of one large plate and 5 small plates. They have an Imari style with a rich blue and gold design. The plates are old , and are almost antique. They are made from fine English china and are quite thin. They are likely dessert plates or fruit plates, but could also be used for a cheese course, or an afternoon tea. These plates are difficult to come by in the Kensington Superior pattern. They are free from chips and cracks. The detail shows some ware on the larger cake plate but is almost entirely intact on the smaller plates. The plates have the odd little dimple, scuff or utensil mark , which is common with age but overall they are in great shape with a bright gleam.
