store From the Arte Italica showroom in New York, sometime in the late 1990s - earliest 2000s. This wooden tray is near to perfect, unused, with a touch of light scuffing (superficial, you can't feel them). The design is what I call restrained classic, it has the beginning of ornate carved details but stops there, it does not go over the top. The fanciness is in the shape and border details. Black coffee color, the brown is rich, nuanced, not flat. There is intentional “antiquing,” the “rubbed away” color technique revealing a lighter brown undertone. In this lighter brown there are a few chips. ( SEE PHOTOs - front views at 4:00 minor chips)
The flat part of the reverses superficial scuff marks.
