store This is a very lovely SILK PRINT of a BATIK I created in 2019. It is such an interesting piece, somewhat abstract and yet one can find many little birds hidden within.

The design is printed directly onto paper-backed SILK Habotai. This SILK is designed to run through my exceptional printer and takes the inks beautifully. The size of the print is 8.5" X 11 (this includes a 1/4 inch white border for framing purposes) and will come with a backing board of 1/4" archival foam core and in a plastic sleeve. This is a lovely print. Colors are very rich. The quality of the print is wonderful. A backing page is included that mentions the process of creating the original.

BATIK is a unique process of alternatingly using hot wax and dyes to create designs on fabric. The fabric eventually is covered with wax and dye, and the design is barely visible. The wax is ironed off and the design emerges.

The process for this piece was a little different in that the original fabric started off as a color tester instead of pure white. It had all these lovely colors on it and I wanted to do something with it. So I started waxing, "looking for" little birds and using the wax to "capture" what I saw. It was really quite an experience and very freeing. BATIK can sometimes be very laborious when a intricately detailed design is to be achieved. This process was much more spontaneous.

This design is quite lovely, with rich colors and might just be perfect for that 12th Anniversary or a lovely gift, especially for MOM.

I like my followers to know that fully 20% of the profit of this print will go to my local non-profit, Native Animal Rescue of Santa Cruz. They are a wonderful and necessary rescue facility that has helped our injured and orphaned wildlife over and over and over. I can't say enough about them.
