Pair of Super Heavy Fleur de Lis Paperweights or Bookends, French Country Decor store Library, Shelf Accent, New Orleans, Architectural Salvage
These heavy fleur de lis pieces are so heavy, so substantial, that I can only imagine they were meant to function as paperweights or bookends. I love pieces like this, which have an Old World form and can be used for so many things--separate and use to hold up a small set of vintage books, either as a bookend or atop the books. Or keep your store paper napkins from flying away in your next gathering outdoors. Great for a French Country or shabby interior, as a shelf accent piece, but also has the more practical use of keeping your books from falling over or your papers from flying away. Or set in your rock garden; that's the nice thing about metal as heavy as this--it will withstand the elements at least for a while, and the worst thing that can happen is it will get rusty and very cool looking in a decade or so.
Each measures 7-1/4" tall by with a base 2-3/4" wide by a little over 2" deep. OK, this is the crazy part. Each one of these is close to four pounds, so we are talking almost eight pounds of weight combined. I told you, these are heavy!
Heavy duty Old World.
