Incredible Vintage Robert Held store Platinum Star Paperweight (COLT10078)

Robert Held Art glass was once Canada's largest hot glass studio and gallery and was located in the heart of Kitsilano, Vancouver, British Columbia. His collections ranged from classic to contemporary and were based primarily on color and design elements. From vases to bowls store to hearts to paperweights, his designs are inspired by the work of famous artists such as Monet, Klimt, and Tiffany. His glasswork has been chosen for many prestigious awards and collections, including some work for Tiffany. This piece began simply by gathering molten glass onto the end of a “blowpipe.” Decoration with colored glass made using minerals such as copper, cobalt, or gold was applied using techniques developed as long ago as 2000 BCE. In March 2013, after 39 years of artistry, Robert Held sold off all of his glass-making equipment and finally closed the doors of his Vancouver based studio. Held moved to Parksville on Vancouver Island and entered into retirement. Soon, the days of retirement began to drag and the urge to create art glass grew until he could take it no longer. Held purchased glass-making equipment and opened a new studio based in Parksville, and along with two of his former artists, he has started creating even more beautiful glass art hearts, paperweights, bowls, vases, and ginger pots in limited quantities for sale as the new gallery expands its production.
