A set of 6 + 1 bright green uranium glass side- or salad plates, with a simple underside-etched design along the edge on 4 places. With some signs of age and use, including some utensil marks, glass pressing lines and sometimes a little air bubble / other manufacturing quirk. Unknown maker, ca 1920-1950s. All plates are in similar condition and do not have any chips store or breaks. Diameter: 21 cm or 8-1/4 inches.
**Uranium or vaseline glass was often distributed free or at a low cost in the United States and Canada, handed out at stores, gas stations and cinemas. Uranium was commonly used as a colouring agent for these products but it fell out of production in the United States during World War II when uranium was needed elsewhere. The actual radiation amounts in the dishes are similar to a cell phone or smoke detector.**
