Orchidae store Archival Art Print

Did you know that there are over 28,000 known species of orchids in the world? This study of Ernst Haeckel's "Orchidae" exhibits an extraordinary collection of just a handfull of species. Ernst composed this image as lithograph print in 1904; I had to see what it store would look like as an oil painting done in my favorite grisaille style. I used burnt sienna for the underpainting, which gives this piece of art a cozy warm feeling.
