I began the second day of my trek, after sleeping in a beautiful valley serenaded by bugling bull elk, when I came around a store bend and found this cabin bathed in the early morning light. A small clear stream with a nearby spring was located just below the cabin, allowing me to refill my water and continue on my journey... after taking several photos of course. This 3 day's backpacking trek was slowed by the jaw-dropping scenes that were found around every turn and in every valley. I loved this trail so much I came back 2 weeks later with my daughters to backpack a portion of it again.

Located in Northern Arizona, the Cabin Loop Trail is 30 miles of scenic forest, streams, and historic cabins built by the pioneers of early Arizona history. Pinchot Cabin, built in the early 1900s, exemplifies the pioneer spirit of these early explorers who braved the wilderness and survived the severe winters and remoteness of this wilderness.
